If you want the simple explanation... it's a giant, multi-universal crossover that takes place in role-play and fanfiction.

It's about the ideals of a group of shadow-ops people, in a few different universes, and how one person or one small group can change the world. Starting with the original ShadowKnights of the IP&S Universe, and branching into the post-apocalyptic universe, and then beyond.
